WHAT IS A HYPSELOSAURUS?

Hypselosaurus , also known as the “highest lizard,” was a genus of herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 70 million years ago. It was a member of the group of long-necked dinosaurs known as sauropods, which were some of the largest animals to have ever lived on land.

WHERE DID THEY LIVE?

The fossils of Hypselosaurus have been found in France, and were first described in 1846.

HOW BIG WERE THEY?

Modern estimates have put Hypselosaurus at around 12.0 m (39.4 ft), with a very rough weight estimate of 7.3–14.5 t (8–16 short tons)

HOW BIG WERE THEIR EGGS?

Eggs attributed to Hypselosaurus by Matheron and Paul Gervais have been found in France since 1846, and were the earliest dinosaur eggs actually discovered, although they were not recognized as being dinosaurian for several decades. The eggs are unusually large; measuring at around 1-foot (0.30 m) wide.
