Name: Ischyromys typus
Geologic Age: Oligocene (25 Million Years Ago)
Location: Brule Formation, Converse County, Wyoming
Comments:  This is a very cool specimen.. it is the skull from an Oligocene Squirrel.  The top of the skull has been prepped out of the matrix so that it can be removed and examined.. it can be displayed with either the top or the bottom showing.  One of the lower jaws had drifted from the skull and is still in the matrix.  Excellent preservation with no restoration detected under close inspection..
