Rutiodon Teeth

Phytosaur was an early archosaur closely related to the crocodiles which they resembled in appearance and semi-aquatic lifestyle. One notable difference between these animals and the crocodiles is that whereas crocodiles have nostrils at the tip of the snout, in phytosaurs they are situated on a mound just above the eyes.

Phytosaurs were about 2 metres long and had long narrow snouts lined with sharply pointed teeth. They mostly ate fish but could also tackle small animals attracted to the water's edge to drink. Phytosaurs only come from the Late Triassic period - they died out in the mass extinction at the end of the period.
