Comments:  This is probably the best fossil Snapping Turtle skull you will see.  It is heavily mineralized and solid.  The lower jaws had separated at the front joint, but were repaired, otherwise there has been no other repairs/restoration on this specimen.  The skull measures approx.  6" long.
This specimen has been in my personal collection.

Name: Stylemys nebrascensis

Stratigraphic detail:
Brule Formation
Location:
South Dakota

5 ¼’’ long x 4 ½’’ wide x 2 ½
Comments:  This very nicely inflated Hollow Turtle has been fully prepared, no restoration. The matrix has been removed from the inside of the turtle shell to expose multiple bones from the skeleton. As seen in photos there are epoxy posts holding the carapace and plastron together.  You really need to hold this specimen in your hand to see how interesting this piece is.
