Keichosaurus Fossils

Keichousaurus (KEE-chi-o-SAUR-us):  The Keishousauridae were amphibious reptiles. They lived in a beach-like environment. They have a small body with a long neck and a triangle head bone with teeth in a single line. The eye bone is large and circular. The vertebral column consists of a neck section (22 vertebra); back section (19 vertebra); tail section (more than 37 vertebra). They were equipped with four legs with fin shaped hands and feet.   3   An early reptile that lived during the Triassic period, roughly 210 million years ago. Keishousaurus was about 6-11 inches (15-29 cm) long and had a long neck, a long tail, five-toed feet with long digits, and a pointed head with sharp teeth. It may have lived in the water.  This quadruped had sturdy legs. Fossils have been found in Guanglin, Guizhou Province, China.  11   Discovered in mid-1957 this specimen represents the first marine dinosaur reptile fossil found that evolved into a separate genus in the China area.

Description:  This specimen was prepared by Terry Manning of Leicester in the United Kingdom, who is a World Renowned  professional fossil technician with over twenty years experience.  There has been ZERO restoration or reconstruction on this specimen!  Every bone, every tooth, every gastralia rib is 100% Original.  This specimen is complete down to the tip of the tail, which is almost NEVER present... especially in the commercially prepared and FAKE specimens that are readily available on the open market.  This specimen would measure approx.  9" + long if outstretched.  If you look at the last 4 photographs, you will see that the teeth are exposed on the one side of the jaw (including ROOTED TEETH) and the TIPS of the teeth are just poking out of the jaw on the opposite side of the jaw..  This is just a stunning specimen worthy of the finest fossil collection in the World.

Description:  This specimen was ALSO prepared by Terry Manning of Leicester in the United Kingdom, who is a World Renowned  professional fossil technician with over twenty years experience.  There has been ZERO restoration or reconstruction on this specimen as well!  Every bone, every tooth, every gastralia rib is 100% Original.  This is a NATURAL Double Specimen that was found on crumbling matrix.  The owner decided to commission  Mr. Manning to do a "Reverse Prep" on the specimen, much like the Messel Fossils of Germany.  The specimens were framed and then had Resin poured over the exposed bones.  Once it dried, the specimen was flipped over and prepped from the other side of the matrix.. all the way down to the bone and the resin.  This left the skeletons of both adult and baby in their natural death position without any type of manipulation.  The bone that was exposed had never seen the light of day!  This too is a stunning specimen worthy of the finest fossil collection in the World.
