Name:  Glyptodont Armor Plate

Location: Colonia, Uruguy, South America
Comments: This is a large section of the "shell" from a Glyptodont from Uruguy... it measures approx. 13" long x 8 1/2" tall x 7/8" thick.   There are 43 "scutes" that are still attached naturally to each other.  There has been no repairs, restoration or reconstruction done to this specimen.  This is an extremely rare find!  Most remains from Glyptodonts are found as individual scutes and bones... most are river finds.  This specimen was clearly NOT a river find but was a dig find...  This is a very special specimen!!
