Name: Undescribed Odontochile or Dalmanites sp.
Geologic Age: Silurian
Stratigraphic detail:
Brandon Bridge Formation
Location:
Waukesha County, WI
Comments:  Here is another indiana9 exclusive. This is an undescribed Odontochile or Dalmanites from an old collection from the Brandon Bridge Formation of Wisconsin. A small pocket of these trilobites were found about 25 years ago and quickly collected before the blasting in the quarry began. Only a few were ever sold or traded off and this is one of those specimens. This specimen, once acquired, was sent to one of the foremost preparators in the country to expose this weird and detailed specimen from its rocky grave. This specimen has both characteristics of the Dalmanites and also the Odontochiles. So few specimens were recovered that it is still listed as “Undescribed.” This ghostly calcite preserved specimen measures 1 5/8” long and sits perfectly centered on a matrix piece that measures 4 3/4” x 4”.
