BUMASTUS TRILOBITES

The fossils from the Rochester Shale exhibit excellent preservation and details, but the soft, wet nature of the matrix when uncovered lends to the fossils "popping off" during drying and preparation.  They then have to be reattached to their original matrix.  While this is not the case with all the fossils from this area, it seems to be the rule with most of the Bumastus trilobites.
