Name:  Ampyx (Lonchodomas)
Geologic Age:   Lower Ordivician
Stratigraphic detail:  Atlas Mountain Region
Location:  Draa Valley, Morocco North Africa
Comments:  This is an INCREDIBLE FIND!!!  This is a 100% NATURAL PLATE of Ampyx and Ceraurus that were all travling the same path along the bottom of the sea when they were all killed at once!  They have NOT been placed and positioned on the matrix.. again.. 100% natural!!  (The matrix had been broken during excavation and repaired.. but NO compositing.. very evident that it is a natural plate when viewed in person) There are 11 Ampyx represented and 3 Ceraurus... Ampyx average approx. 2 3/4" long from tip of snout to end of genal spines and the Ceraurus measure approx. 1 3/4" - 2 1/4" long.  This is an amazing find, to see how these bugs traveled in formation.. much like ants and some bird species... With the matrix cleaned around the bugs.. it looks as if the bugs are traveling along an ancient river!  How cool...  This would make an amazing display specimen!!
