Maple Hill Microfossils

Sharks and fishes have long been known from the Devonian of Iowa. The following specimens were collected in the 1970's from the Middle
Devonian, Maple Mill Formation of Iowa. Few specimens have ever been adequately described from this formation and specimens are
now difficult to obtain as many of the old collecting localities are gone.

The fossils were obtained by breaking down the matrix of the Maple Mill in acid and collecting the fossils. All the specimens listed are
microfossils, measuring on average ~1-2 mm long and are housed in labelled micropalaeontology well slides with aluminum cases and
glass cover slides. The cases and coverslides allow easy access to the specimen, yet keep it safe when not being studied
