Comments:  This is a VERY RARE OFFERING.  This plate was found back in the 70's by a collector while searching for Mazon Creek Nodules at the Famous Pit 11.  The collector found this plate, along with the other half (a Positive/Negative plate) and managed to pry it out of the ground and took it home where it had remained until he sold it to another collector that I happened to know.  I was able to purchase this specimen at the MAPS show and have spoken to the original collector who confirms that this plate was indeed found at Pit 11.  The overall size of this plate at the widest points are approx. 9" x 14" x 1.5" thick.  There are countless ferns present on this plate, along with wood specimens and what appears to be a VERY LARGE CONE that is visible from both sides of the plate... it could also be a branch.. but I was told it was a cone.. so I'll let the buyer be the judge.  This plate is very busy, very detailed and is much better in person.

Illinois Plate 1 Price: $750.00
