These fish are from the "Split-Fish" Layer of the Green River Formation, and have had a protective coating applied to enhance and preserve each specimen. As most fish from the "Split-Fish" layer are slightly damaged when they are split apart, the missing portions may be air-brushed in.
THESE FISH ARE WRAPPED IN SARAN WRAP FOR THEIR PROTECTION AND WERE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH THE SARAN WRAP STILL ON.. WHICH MAY HIDE SOME OF THE DETAILS.
