Description: This is a very unusual and unique plate! This plate contains a NEW FIND.. it is a leaf from an ancient Banana Tree.. the location where this plate was found is actually along the shoreline of an ancient lake.. this area is being studied extensively and a multitude of new species are being discovered, studied, named and will be published in the future.. This plate also contains a wonderfully preserved Dyplomystus & Knightea. The bone preservation and structure is excellent. These are not 18" layer fish.. but split-layer from the shoreline with stunning preservation. The plate measures approx. 26" wide x 15 1/4" tall. The Dyplomystus measures 5 3/4" long. The Banana Leaf measures approx. 11" long x 6 1/2" tall.

These fish are from the "Split-Fish" Layer of the Green River Formation, and have had a protective coating applied to enhance and preserve each specimen. As most fish from the "Split-Fish" layer are slightly damaged when they are split apart, the missing portions may be air-brushed in.
THESE FISH ARE WRAPPED IN SARAN WRAP FOR THEIR PROTECTION AND WERE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH THE SARAN WRAP STILL ON.. WHICH MAY HIDE SOME OF THE DETAILS.
