Elephant Bird Eggs

This is the world's largest know egg!  It is much larger than any dinosaur egg ever found.  It was laid by a giant flightless bird that look something like its cousin the Ostrich.  However this giant bird may have weighed up to a ton!  The long-extinct Elephant Bird, a one-time flightless resident of Madasgascar, is the largest bird known to science, growing to a height of 10-11 feet and weighing in at an estimated 1000 - 2000 pounds.  Aepyornis thrived in its island home of Madagascar until man arrived. It became extinct sometime during the 17th century.

Comments:  There have been approx. 12 whole Aepyornis Eggs ever found intact.  Those eggs are priceless and are never seen on the open market.. they are tucked away in wealthy, private collector collections or displayed in museum collections.  This egg is a composite egg.  While all of the shell is real, parts of the egg shell come from other eggs found and are fitted together like a jig-saw puzzle!  Overall the shape of the egg is excellent.  Overall the shell texture is very good.. some areas are better than others.  This is a rare opportunity to add something special to your collection!  Approx. 12.5" tall.  Each of these Eggs will come with a FREE Cast of most complete Elephant Bird Eggs ever found.  The Giant Elephant Bird Egg is the largest known bird egg.
