Therizinosaurus Dinosaur Eggs

Name:  Therizinosaurus sp.
Geologic Age:   Late Cretaceous
Stratigraphic detail:  Kaoguo Formation
Location:  Xixia County, Henan Province, China
Comments: While similar to Segnosaurus Eggs, these eggs are found in a different layer and are shaped differently and their shells are typically a rich gray when cleaned.  (The Segnosaurus are a family member of the Therizinosaurids.)   Without having found embryos inside any of these types of eggs, it is difficult to say exactly WHICH type of dinosaur it was laid by. This specimen measures approx.  4 1/16" long x 2 15/16" wide.   There is still some matrix covering parts of the egg.. otherwise the shell coverage appears to be good.  Another nice type of dinosaur egg to add to your egg collection!
