Platecarpus was a slender-bodied mosasaur. It is one of five species of Mosasaur know from Morocco. The tail of platecarpus was as long as its body. Compared to the teeth of Mosasaurus, the largest variety, Platecarpus ptychodon had narrower, sharply pointed teeth lacking massive thickness at the base. This suggests that Platecarpus fed on soft-bodied creatures such as fish and soft-shelled cephalopods.
