Mononykus was a small, birdlike animal with unusual arms. Its number of fingers was reduced to a single, massively-clawed digit. Its arms were extensively muscled, as evidenced by massive muscle attachment sites on its elbows. Despite their high degree of development, the forelimbs of Mononykus are relatively small in proportion to its body. This Therapod stood only 3 feet tall.

Name: Mononykus sp.
Geologic Age: Cretaceous
Stratigraphic detail: Hell Creek Formation
Location: Custer County, Montana
Description: This is a VERY RARE Claw! Mononykus was originally found only in Mongolia. Remains of this dinosaur found in Montana are listed as: "The Montanan mononykine". A theropod closely related to, and of overall similarity to, the feathered Asian genus Mononykus" by Phillip Bigelow in his Hell Creek Faunal List. I purchased this claw 3-4 years ago and it has been in my Private Collection since. I had shown this to the Black Hills Institute during one of my trips out West, and they confirmed that this does appear to be from a Mononykus! The very tip of this claw was missing and was professionally restored. For scientific accuracy, the tip was not painted to match the claw, otherwise you would never know that it was restored. Note the perfect blood grooves and vascular openings.. incredible preservation! This specimen measures 1 7/32" long. This is an excellent opportunity to add a RARE claw to YOUR collection!Mononkyus Claw 1 Price $1500.00
