LeGrand Crinoids

In 1874, a small "nest" of crinoid fossils was uncovered in the LeGrand Quarry. They were so well preserved that scientists from Iowa, Illinois, New Mexico, Indiana, and Massachusetts visited the site and with the cooperation of the quarry owner they excavated the fossils over a sixteen-year period.  These crinoids are exceptionally rare!!!

Comments: Very nice Triple crinoid plate!   This specimen was released from the Central College Collection in Pella Iowa.  This specimen could use some modern prep work done to it with air abrasives which could release all the minute details that are there, but partially hidden by some remaining matrix.  The original prep work done to this specimen was with a pin vise!!   This is a RARE OPPORTUNITY to add a RARE CRINOID to your collection!
