Name:  Traumatocrinus hsui

Geologic Age:  Triassic/Jurassic
Stratigraphic detail:  Guanfing Formation
Location:  Guizhou, China
Comments:  This is a HUGE Chinese crinoid with complete calyx and partial stem. This fossil was prepared with the acid preparation method by Terry Manning of England. Acid preparation is very time consuming but can reveal details not seen by other means. Terry Manning is famous for his acid preparaton of Segnosaur eggs, revealing embryos inside.  This specimen has a HUGE Calyx that measures 12 1/2" wide!  The overall length of the crinoid, with stem measures 17 1/2" - 18" long.  This is THE BEST Traumaticrinus that I've ever seen!
