Description: Helianthaster rhenanus was a RARE SPECIES of starfish that lived during the Devonian Period. This starfish was very unusual. It had 16 appendages; thus it was definitely an anomaly among starfish. The ambulacral groove is well defined by the adambulacral ossicles.
