Prevalent during the Silurain and Devonian ages, eurypterids were segmented aquatic arthropods, with compound eyes, and two club-like "arms." These extinct creatures are related to today's horseshoe crab, and the fossil trilobite. Like trilobites, eurypterids shed their chitin-covered exoskeleton as they grew. Some species exhibit toothed claws, and may therefore have been predators.

Comments: This BIG specimen measures 9 1/8" long x 5 5/8" wide. Very nice details present. There have been a few matrix repairs, but no reconstruction done to the specimen. The counter-part of this specimen is in the Chicago Field Museum Collection! Compare this BIG specimen to the BABY specimen in the last photo.. it's HUGE! The smaller specimen is NOT included with this specimen.Eurypterid 7 Price $925.00

Name: Eurypterus lacustrus
Geologic Age: Silurian (400 Million Years Old)
Stratigraphic detail: Bertie Gr. Williamsville Formation
Location: Fort Erie, Ontario Canada
Comments: This is the SMALLEST Eurypterid that I have ever had, measuring in at approx. 1 5/8" long. The small ones usually do not preserve well at all and are typically fragmentary pieces and parts when they ARE found. This specimen is the exception. This specimen was found essentially complete, and although there have been a couple of matrix repairs this specimen is very pleasing to the eye... it displays very well and due to it's size, this specimen is QUITE RARE!Rare Location too! The last photo shows this little guy next to an adult specimen for comparison.. the large specimen is NOT included in this price.Eurypterid 8 Price $775.00
