Name: Arietites buchlandi
Geologic Age: Early Jurassic
Stratigraphic detail: Harbury Beds,
Location: Lyme Regis, Great Britain
Comments: This is a rare ammonite from Great Britain.. The ID was confirmed by Neal Larson of The Black Hills Institute... This specimen measures approx. 16" wide x 3.5" - 4" thick. The ribs are present all the way down to the very center of the ammonite. The keel (outside edge) is intact all around the ammonite. This specimen, like virtually ALL U.K. Ammonites was found in the ground and "plucked" out of the matrix, leaving the back of the ammonite missing the shell, etc.. so the back of this one has been smoothed out with Hydrostone (or some similar material) and the initials of the finder and date of find are set into the stone.. This is a nice specimen that would look great on a stand by the fireplace or in your cabinet! (Bottom Shelf)
United Kingdom Arietites Ammonite 1 $1500.00
